Update (Oct. 2022)

pocketlink here.

if you couldn’t tell, the week in August with three releases was me trying to get out as much as possible before school started again

currently we’re developing a plan to get Uramon back up and running so we don’t fall too far behind

Kamizmode isn’t dead. i just am (timing is a slog)

Black Channel also isn’t dead. I wanna get Ep0 part 3 out and then start working on like, shorter stuff (the actual youtube anime episodes which aren’t NEARLY as dense)

A few Duel Masters episodes are also in the pipeline but they have to go through multiple stages of QC and I’m just tryna take my time

Sorry for the messy writing and lack of capitalization. We appreciate your continued support. ❀

[BOIL] Inazuma Eleven – Superdimensional Dream Match

Mega DDL

Can’t believe it’s been eight entire years since this originally aired without proper subs. Let’s put the nail in this coffin, eh?

A project that Double and I have wanted to work on for more than a couple of years. RyRo never translated this in full* and the only other “subs” that exist are subpar, so we’ve picked up slack. Get a dose of your favorite experiencing little battlers and soccer players. Credits are kind of complicated for this, read on for more.

Choujigen Dream Match was only ever released on DVD, which means that it’s natively 480p and is not very crisp. Though some may frown at this, we’ve upscaled the video and applied some light filters for our version. The DVD also included a recording of a live stage event, which can be found in the MEGA folder as a raw 480p video.daburuwosagase

daburuwosagase organized the majority of this project, including encoding the best quality video they possible could, getting the base timing for me, marking places to typeset, and translating the IRL theater segments. They also checked and edited my translation for the main episode.

pocketlink (yours truly) translated Choujigen Dream Match as well as “Ouja ni Nare”, the song used for promotion of Inazuma Eleven Online (RIP). Typeset Double’s markers into full signs with love and care. I also made a lot of timing adjustments, did basic cleanup and QC.

*onkeikun kindly provided us her translation of the LBX All Stars Battle she did previously, which I made sure wasn’t messed up from automatic OCR’ing. Splash provided permission to use RyRo’s karaoke styles used in the series recap. Thank you both so much for the release blessing!

QC was kindly done in house by BOIL members nepenthes, garagewolf, and MechaSeraph.

Kaijin Answer

The second urban legend, Tamura-sensei has opted to change their name to Kaibutsu Answer. They’re a mysterious being who will correctly answer any question they’re asked. But be careful; if you answer the question they pose to you wrong, you might find yourself without an arm or a leg…
There doesn’t exist much English information about this legend, the only intel I found being from this WordPress post advertising a podcast called Toshiden.

[BOIL] Saikyo Kamizmode 15-18

We are living through major global events. Kamizmode πŸ™‚

We’ll be releasing the rest of the episodes in batches of four. This is the first, so two to go!

The first of a three-part series, Black Channel Episode0 is an animated special detailing the titular character Black’s life before becoming a demon and meeting Satoshi. Easiest way I can describe it is like Paradise Lost by John Milton, except the original sin is making prank videos on Youtube. There are literal, actual biblical allegories, in this spinoff especially, and Black is a direct interpretation of Lucifer.

What is Black Channel?

Black Channel is a manga-slash-animated web series, the manga being written and drawn by Kisaichi Satoshi and published by CoroCoro, while the web series belongs to a group of Youtubers under the animation studio Plott. It’s about Black, a demon, and him uncovering the “hidden sides” of people by granting their outlandish desires and turning them into topics for his videos with his trusty camera assistant and often-used guinea pig Satoshi. In my opinion, the web series is more explicitly aimed towards younger audiences, and the manga is far more… shall we say “unhinged”. The Youtube channel itself is here and the manga is available to read here if you’re interested. The Youtube channel uploads multiple times a week and can produce some great stuff at times, though if you want less filler, the manga’s definitely the way to go.

Give Episode0 a shot! I worked really hard on it and want to show it to people. Batch torrent with all three parts coming at a later date (whenever I finish them all). Part 2 coming soon. Maybe next month? No promises.

“Urban legends have made an enemy of this instructor, the cryptic Uramon! In order to protect his students from all kinds of dangerous myths, he finds himself taking on cases of mysterious happenings. Keeping his students safe is a tough job when they’re naturally attracted to the occult!”

One-Man Hide and Seek

The first urban legend. A ritual that involves contacting the spirits by allowing them to possess the body of a doll in a game of hide-and-seek. You can read how to play it here. They didn’t stay completely accurate to the legend, I imagine because Tamura-sensei doesn’t want to inspire kids to go around engaging in real occult rituals. There’s also a Shuuen no Shiori song about it, which is a Vocaloid series with a theme on urban legends, if you’re interested in the motif.
